Failures at life in a vacume

OK, so not only did we miss our ferry, we missed ALL the FERRIES. When we got to the pier (20 mins early) we found out the boat had already left. Apparently, our guide book is WRONG, and the boat left a half hour earler than we thought. We ended up spending the night in a hotel beside the pier, which was pretty expensive, and away from practically any shops or restaraunts. BUT, we did find this one place to eat. We went in, and it was super fancy shmancy. Here we are, three girls wearing tank-tops, flip-flops and shorts, one with dreadlocks, the others sporting baseball caps and earings made out of coconuts. They seated us (even pulling the chair out for us, AND giving us the napking in the lap) and filled our water. We then got our menu, and were shocked to find that our 85 limperia (around 5 dollars canadian) wasnt going to get us very far. Infact, the only thing we could afford was a side of bread and a martini. BUT, being the hungry travellers that we are, we needed food. Sage began asking our waiter, if she was too old to eat of the childrens menu (the answer was yes) or that if there was any 'cheaper restaraunts' close by (no). They assured us that there was plenty of cheaper items on the menu like seafood soup (only 200 Limperia!), or fried fish (175 limperia). We then told them that between the three of us we had 285 limperia, and a couple centavos. We were pretty much losing it by then, it was pretty funny...
So, our waiter left to go talk to the manager. They very graciously gave us a fabulous meal (meat and veg, and everything) including the salad bar, and free purified water. It was possible the most/best well balanced meal that I have had in a while. AND, it did not involve beans. AND, we even used cloth napkins. AND, it was cheap. It was great.

So yes, after our little adventure at the pier and its surroundings, we fianlly made it on a ferry yesterday morning. We went to the island called Utila. So far, its been pretty nice. Our hotel is cheap and has a kitchen, which is nice because we are pretty poor.

Sage has decided to to a dive course over 4 days. She started today, its pretty exciting, she has a log book and everything. She learns how to breathe under water today (super friggen cool). Zoe and I are just spending our time hangin out and relaxing. We are going to stay here untill the end of Sages dive course and then make our way to Nicaragua on the Ticabus where we might meet the boys. So far lugging the surfboard hasnt been too bad. We are worried about it 24/7 since the boat/bus operators dont seem to know that 'be careful' or 'fragile' means. BUT, Im sure it will make it to Nicaragua OK, and we can surf once again.

I am super stoked for Nicaragua, I cant wait to go...

OK, so after three months, I fainlly fixed my blog, so ANYONE can comment, not just blogger users. Yes, I know I rule at using computers.

Yes happy mother's day, maja, and to the other mothers with you! Can't wait to see you Wednesday -I'll be at YVR with la belle chelle. Enjoy the rest of your time in Europa :)

Clarity - bring on the iguana pelts! Take pictures of your creations! Also, fyi I have a meeting about that work project on Monday night...will let you know how it goes. Aside from that, I sit surrounded by thesis paperwork while the sun shines outside. I wish you better luck with transportation timing for the rest of your trip - must be like "island time, mon" you are dealing with. Way to hang onto the surfboard, dog bite and all.
