johnskie is drunkskie

So, things have been pretty rad.

We have been hagning out with qa bunch of cool people and having a really cool time.
They day before yesterday, we al took a daytrip to San Salvador. It was a great time. We went to the mall (which was crazy intense rich) and walked around. Everyone was pretty hung over, and it was hilarious. We went to an AWFUL movie, and ate some awful fast food.
It was pretty fun. The ride there was absolutely nuts. This guy who is staying at the hotel with us has a truck so we went in that. The traffic was absolutely insane. We havent done much riding in the backs of trucks yet, so we made up for it all in those couple of days.

Yesterday, I had the worst migraine EVER. It was alright in the morning, and then it hit me like a tonne of bricks. I fitfilly slpet in our very bright room (the walls are made of glass) untill I moved down into Romans and Johns room (which I call the cave) which was glorsoously dark I slept practically the WHOLE DAY. The only breaks were to eat chicken soup and play Davids new gameboy. Today I feel great. Im glad it was only a one day thing.

Today we hung out, and checked out some really cool caves that are at the end of the beach. They are kind of dodgy because there are alot of bats. A local told me that if 'some man piss them off, they will fight'. Soooo, I think I might stay away frmo those for a while. We also checked out some tidal pools, which were good times.

Tomorrow there is a surf competition being held at our beach. Its going to be a good time, and there is prob going to be prettyu wicked after party. Sage and I are thinking of going in on the compètition...Is this a good idea? I guess we'll find out...

Blogsky

I fecking love it here. Infact, I dont think I am ever going to leave.
Things have been going SUPER good.
Everyone is feeling much better, and we have been practising our surfing. Its going pretty good, I half ass stood up for about 1 second. I also bit it SO hard. I was trying to catch a wave and instead of riding it, it rode me. My board flipped up out of the water yanking my leg up by the leash, THEN I was held under water by the wave and smucked my face into the sand.
It kind of hurt.
But Im OK.

There has been some rad parties at our hotel. Everyone gets together and has a good time. We have all been having an especially good time because Frodo left. Sage and I actually sang with joy when he walked out the door. In our hotel penthouse, new Canadian boys have moved in along with John the Brit, and Roman. Its been fekcing hilarous.
Unfortunatly Skylar has gone back to California, which is sad because he was great. His fight was postponed for another night so we got to party it up last night.

Oour stay in El Salvador was planned for 10 days. We have been here 15 already. We dont wanna leave EVER!

Bon Provecho Perro

OK, I have not updated in a couple days, and we have done TONS.First off, we bought a surfboard. We met this guy at our hotel (his name is Mario and he is from Sweden) and he had a surfboard he was trying to sell. Being the kind of people we are, we decided to buy it. The surf board also came with a free lesson, so the next day we went out and tried out the surf.
I pretty much fail at surfing.BUT, I did manage to ride one wave, which was hella-cool and Im sure that it shouldnt be too much harder...I also scraped off the skin off both of my knees, which hurts but was well worth. Sage and Zoe are both sporting very rape-victimy looking bruises on their hips.

Playa Zonte (where we are staying) is realllllyyyy beautiful, and we have just been having a good time enjoying the beautiful ocean and waves. There is some really cool people staying at our hotel, and every night there is some kind of party going on. This one guy from California who is our age, named Skylar is here with his Dad and Uncle. They are pretty cool, and we have been hanging out with them alot. Skylar has been surfing for 4 years and is pretty damn good.

Also some other guys from Nova Scotia, Australis and Britain. They are all a good laugh. Last night Zoe, Skylar, Uncle, Roman(Nova Scotian), Simon(Aussie) and I were having a good time at the beach resteraunt when we heard this crazy loud druming music coming from the other hotel. We went and investigated and found ourselves dancing around tribaly with a bunch of native surfers. It was SO FUN. If you ever get the chance to drink some Nicaraguan Rum and dance around tribaly, DO IT.

We are sleeping in 'the penthouse' with three other guys from Canada. It is glorious, and has two levels complete with deck, and hammocks. It is GREAT, and not even that expensive.

There was the most incredible storm last night. I woke up in the middle of the night, and it was gusting wind, and there was alot of lightning. It was amazing. We all just sat out on our deck, and watched the flickering horizon for a while. All of our stuff was blowing around, and Im sure a couple days from now Im going to be finding my clothes down the street somewhere.

Unfortunatly, I also have some bad news.
1. Sage is still sick, which totally blows. We though she was over her illness, but she has been feeling sick to her stomach again. Poor girl could do nothing but lay around and drink Gatorade. It was very sad, and we all hope she gets better very very soon
2. The dog ate our surf board. Yes, it is true. Our brand new spanking board, now has some very unattractive bite marks in it. One night after we had all gone to bed our roommate Walid (who is sleeping in the downstairs section of our penthouse) awoke to chewing noises. He found a dog inside KNAWING on our board. It was very sad, since we had just gotten it, but luckily we brought it to the Surf Hospital, and it should be almost good as new in a matter of hours.
3. We have a shitty roommate. These three guys from Canada are staying at our hotel. Walid, Lucas and Jake. Walid is very sweet, and nice and we love him. Lucas is OK...but Jake is EVIL. We all hate him SO MUCH. I havent met someone SO annoying and SO insecure for SO long. We have nicknamed him Frodo because he looks like a hobbit, AND he gets tres scary just like Frodo did when the ring over powers him. I dont even think I can explain what he is like. Drunk british boy is constantly muttering 'wanker' and 'prick' under his breath, and everyone refer to him as 'psycho boy'. Luckily, he is leaving tomorrow, and everyone will be able to breathe easy again.
4. The dog stole my sandals. They were my THIRD pair. They have been missing for days, and finally today I had to suck it up and buy a new pair.

BUT, other than those few minor set backs, things have been going really well, and been really fun. I really recomend this place for a vacation...it is truly beautiful.

I thought I would show everyone what a beautiful place I am in...heh heh heh.

Doctors Visit

Today we decided to take a visit to the doctor. We have all not been feeling well, and we decided it was probably the best desicion. Especially because I had developed these suspicious looking red splotches on my arms and face (which is a symptom of Dengue). Ive had a heat rash before, and this looks different. There not raised above the skin, and they are not itchy or bumpy.

But, I think the docotr visit went quite well. After we arrived he all asked us what our symptoms were. When I said I had the splotches on my skin, he replied with a ''Wow...uhh that might be 'the Dengue'''.....But no worries, after he examined me he was convinced it wasnt Dengue, and that it was just a heat rash.

Thank the the friggen lord. BUT, just to be on the safe side were gonna send some of our 'intestinal goods' to the lab to be tested. We want to be sure that we dont have a parasite or anything.

The doctor also gave us some pills for our ongoing stomach ailments. Hopefully they will work and we will all be on the road to recovery very soon.
We havent started our surfing yet, but maybe when we get back today we will do a little body boarding.

The place we are staying at is great. It is really nice, and has a pool. The view is fantastic. Its funny because most of the people staying in the hotel are canadian. Its pretty sweet. I have to admit, I am missing Canada a teensy bit...Like vegtables...and the nice cool weather at nights. Oh and other clothes. I hate all my clothes. They are dirty, broken, too big, and STUPID. I HATE THEM. Some whole wheat bread would be nice too, and some good cheese thats not crappy kraft singles.

But enough complaining, things are good here other wise. Its truly beautiful here, and I cant wait to hit the surf...

Well, these last couple days have been pretty intresting...

OK. that is a complete lie. I have been ill for the last couple days. It all started on Friday morning when the dizziness began. Then the tirednesss followed. Soon, I found myself curled up in a ball on my bed wishing I was dead.
I had the same thing Zoe and Sage both had. Fever, chills, aches, pains and evilness. On top of it already being about 40 degrees here and humid as hell, I also was swealtering to death from my fever.

IT WAS SO HOT.

But I am feeling alot better now, even though I continue to have these brain melting headaches that travel from the top of my scull to the bottem of my neck. But, the ocean heals all, and Im definetly heading to the beach today.

Easter was pretty weird here. On Saturday (holy saturday) when I was feeling OK, I walked across the street from our hotel to look for Zoe and Sage. Instead I walked into this huge rap concert. It was fairly odd. The whole day of Saturday was basically just a giant party. I didnt even see any prosessions or anything that had been on days and weeks following easter.
On the day of easter itself it was very quiet. We went down the street to get snacks and supplies and there was nothing happening. I guess everyone was either in Church, or at home. No parties, prosessions no nothing. It was kind of dissapointing.
For our easter treat we ate a mr.big bar. It was pretty damn good. Most of their chocolate is shit here, so we have to rely on the american chocolate. I miss my canadian swiss imported chocolate!
Im actually missing alot of things. Like vegtables. I havent seen a single vegtable since I got to El Salvador and I think I am going to die. MMmmmmm, how good a nice salad would taste. I miss my Guatemalan food. The food here is kind of shitty.

We are leaving La Liberdad today and going to a quiet village that is supposed to be known for its surfing. Hopefully we can try it out a couple times. They might not have a computer there, so I might not be updating for a couple days again.

Its so weird being in a city that is so modern. We have been taking it to the full advantage.
On tuesday we went downtown to see the famous churches. They were really beautiful. unfortunatly you cant take pictures, so no one is gonna get to see what they looked like. That, and I forgot my camera.

Our hotel is pretty close to the 'Metro Centro' which is basically a giant shopping mall. We went there after, and it was absolutely nuts. Its friggen huge. I felt like I was in America or something. We looked around a bit, but didnt buy anything. We are very poor.
Later, we went to a movie. It was GREAT. San Salvador probably has the best theatre I have ever been to. Infact it was so good, we went to another movie on wednesday.

Har Har, now that we are all Americanized out, we are moving on to La liberdad to hit the beach and probably do some surfing. We relized yesterday that we have not been to a proper beach yet. Its always been a rock, or a dock or some shitty pebbles. Its going to be good to kick back on some sand.

El Salvador

Whew. We made it to El Salvador yesterday.
Our day began yesterday at 8´oclock (instead of our planned 7) because the alarm clock broke. We then began our long journey.
It started with a chicken bus to Guate (Guatemala City), which was really windy, bumpy and downhilly. The bus was constantly filled with the break burning and exhaust smell. I had absolutely no leg room, it totally blew. Of course I was sitting in the middle of two very short latino men, who had plenty of leg room. That bus ride was about 3 hours long, and OK besides Zoe getting bus-sick(she did succeed in not vomitting). We then stopped in Guate for a short time to the get snacks and supplies, and to bord another bus to get to San Salvador. We didnt take a chicken bus though, so it was pretty comftorable besides it being stuffy and hot. That ride was about 5.5 hours including the border change (which was incredibly easy and cheap). We finally made it to San Salvador around 6.
It was a very long day.

San Salvador is pretty crazy. I heard alot before coming here that its just a giant dirty city, but it seems OK to me. It is alot hotter here than it was in Guatemala, which is good because we were sick of being cold all the time. Also, they use the American Dollar here which is really hard to get used to.

We went to our hotel-called the 'Happy Hotel', which is the nicest hotel we have been to yet(discluding Houston Texas). We have 3 beds, a TV, private bath AND air conditoning. It was also pretty expensive, but we decided to splurge. We spent the night watching american TV and eating pizza. It ws truly great.

Today I think we may be checking out the museums, art galleries and churches, and we'll probably stay in San Salvador another night. All together, we will probably only be in El Salvador 10 days or so because we want to spend alot of time (probably a month each) in Nicaragua and Honduras. We only have so much time and we want to budget it wisely. After S. S we are heading to la Liberdad to hopefully do some beaching and surfing. Should be a good time...

Market day

Today was market day.
It was absolutely insane. The streets of Chichi was full of 100's of stands selling different crafts, food and clothes.
I managed to spend a good chunk of money, and bought some really cool stuff. All day I have had people bugging me to buy different blankets, dolls and clothes. After a while the pestering gets a bit much, but I know the people really do need the money.

Sage was even feeling a bit better today which was good. She also spent a scary amount of money....As did Zoe...I bet we're funding a good chunk of Guatemala.

I think we´re probably leaving for El Salvador tomorrow, but Im not sure.

Chichicastenango

So we arrived here in Chichi this morning. The chicken bus we rode was PACKED. I was practically sitting on a lap of this mayan guy. There was three or four people to a bench, and I noticed as we were ripping it on the highway that there was a nice softball sized hole at my feet. Chicken busses are a suprise evertime. We decided to only take a chicken bus part way because a shuttle was around the same price, and much more comftorable. Also Sage and Zoe werent feeling well and going on a chicken bus is a pretty big feat.

Sage is sick (has a fever and such) and is taking a day of relaxation. Tomorrow is the big market, should be a crazy time. Its pretty cool here in Chichi, lots of people wear the traditional clothing.

At this moment our laundry is being cleaned so I am sitting in the Internet cafe wearing my bright blue pajama bottems, a bright orange tank top, and green runners. I look pretty foolish, and Im pretty sure people are laughing at me. Whatver, I know im secretly stylish.
I think I may wonder out to find some good food and a smoothie now...

Solola

Well, we're here in Solola just for a night or two. Our plan is to go to Chichi for the big market on Sunday.

We havent done much today, just got here from Santa Cruz checked into our hotel, and looked around the market a little bit. We even bought a jacknife. It is a real beuty even though the blade is as dull as a banana (yes, they are very dull...) and there are a couple things that were not sure what they do.

All in all, things are good.

Mah

Well...these last few days have been quite eventful.
On our last night in San Pedro I relized that I had not seen my camera in a while. And, to this moment I have not seen it since. We figure someone must have gone into the room when we were cooking or something and seen it and taken it. It is a very sad loss...
The next morning I also relized my shoes (which were drying outside) and my towel (which was hangin on the line) were also missing.
It fucking sucked.
So now I am Ipodless, cameraless, toweless and shoeless. It is a very sad story. The funny part about it is that other people shit was outside too, and my stuff was the only stuff that was missing (Besides, freakishly enough 2 pairs of Sages underwear....)
I have bought a new camera (a very cheap one...) and am using Sages towel. Everything is going to be all right ( I hope)

We are now in Santa Cruz, which is very small (and very beautiful). We're staying at this hella-sweet hostel place called 'The Iguana de Parida'. We are even sleeping in a tree house. Everyone here is really cool and we will probably hang out here for another day. Its kind of expensive here....

Next we're off to Chichi (the big ass market) to spend more of our precious money.

Now that I officially hate all computers here, I will continue on my blog journey. Yesterday I wrote the same blog twice, and the computer ate them both times. It was very unfair, and I was very angry. But this is in the past...

Today was very warm and we spent alot of time by the lake (as usual). We brought our shampoo and actually bathed ourselves for once (hah, only kidding). The water was fab as usual, and for once it wasnt too busy.
We also started practising hackisack, which was hilarious and terrible because we do truly suck at it. Hopefully by the end of the trip we will master the art of the hack.
We also finally bought bread from 'Quires Pan??' lady which was absolutely FABULOUS. Although pan lady is annoying, she does bake vey good banana bread. Its quite sad that we avoided her for so long...

I went today to exchange my books and the stupid store was closed. So, once aagain I will spend another night with book envy.

We´re probably going to spend another day or two here and move our way onto Santa Cruz or somewhere else on the lake.

Mom and Dad, where was that place in Guatemala that you said was really cool?? We can´t remember the name of it.

Wowsa

I cant believe that today is April 1st. We have been here for exactly 42 days. It is absolutely insane how quickly the time has gone. It seems that only last week we were spending our time on the beaches of Caye Caulker. Already so much has happened. We´ve met some really cool people and been to come really cool places. At this rate, I wish that we had planned a much longer trip. But, Im gonna take it as it is...and right now its damn good.

Today was a very nice beachy day as well. We first went to this really cool resteraunt, that was totally hippy and ´mucho relaxo´. The food took a VERY long time, but it was pretty damn good. The tables are really low to the ground, and you sit on big pillows. Super comfy good times.

Then we went to the lake (of course) scoped out a pretty good spot on the rocks and spent a good couple hours swimming around and reading. There was of course some pretty cool hippies there, as San Pedro is packed with them.
Ive finished all of my books, so tomorrow I think I will go on a hunt to find some new ones. The kite Runner was VERY good, and I highly recomend it to anyone looking for a good read.

My god damned cold is still not gone, but now Im taking Penicillin, so I hope it goes away vey very soon.
And now I think we are going to the make-shift cinema to watch 'Star Wars 3...revenge of the sith'. I think it should be pretty amusing...
